The Harvest!

.

Turnips weighing 2.5 kg

organic vegetables are often frowned upon as buggy and under sized
as many are that we see for sale.

Its nothing to do with organic - more like lousy gardeners!

Potatoes - many weighing in at 600gram

gives us more than enough to last till the next harvest
and seed for re planting.

and not just one

I once worked for a farmer who had been saving seed potatoes from the harvest for
re planting the next season - he had been doing it for 40 years!

most of the potatoes are this size

shatters the myth that we are often told

"if seed potatoes from the crop are used the following season
 they will get progressively smaller"

The carrots aren't to small either - many weighing more
than 365 grams

carrots love the cooler climate - gives them amazing
crispness and flavour

and as for the beans - around 55kg!

this was from just one pick!!

Scarlet Runner beans give so much - eat them green or dried for winter use or ground and added to the bread dough - they just keep coming up in the spring, no need to re plant.
Peas - well none made it to the pot - we both ate our fill
daily for 3 months - fresh raw peas mmmmmmm!
