What to do? Where to go? … and what to have for tea?
The biggest question in life - what to have for tea!!
… and one of the few questions we all have in common, no matter where we are and what we are doing, no matter our beliefs, our positions, our health, our wealth, our gender, our age etc. this is where we ALL meet. We can live without knowing what to do and where to go. We can not live without food.
This is of course not a big secret – every body knows it – and it is often on the political agenda. We are being fed with one of the big scares – the fat-sugar-salt scare!! We have hearty and healthy options in the shops, - and we put huge resources in to fight obesity, diabetes. The government has launched a programme for healthy food in the schools.
Everybody knows the saying “we are what we eat”. It is often said with a little smile or even a big grin.
We are so aware of the benefits of good food on many levels …. and yet it is almost impossible to buy natural food.
What happened? Try next time in the super market to look and read. Look with new eyes, see what kind of products are on the shelves. Read carefully the ingredients list. It doesn’t matter that you probably won’t understand most of the words. Or does it? Does it matter that we have no idea of with what we are feeding our body?
It matters! – we have given our power away to experts in diet, in healthy living and so on. And next to them we have the food manufacturers. Eating has become an intellectual exercise in e-numbers with maximum recommendations for daily intake, with all the emulsifiers, stabilizers, emulgators etc. - words we never learned in school, words we never learned at home.
But going back to “we are what we eat” – it is true!
If we eat alien food we separate ourselves from Earth … and hence from the very core of spirituality. We need the Earth where we have been placed – and given all that is needed for living. We need this natural balance in order to reach beyond – into the spiritual world.
Anyone – regardless of faith – will know that the “simple things”, the natural things are created beyond our comprehension – just like us as we are a part of it. And this is what we call “simple”. Living a simple life. Eating simple food.
We call it simple because we don’t understand its complexity, - and then we turn ourselves into experts far above the unreachable creating source, that some of us call God.
We tear the natural and “simple” things apart. We kill the very complex simple things and redo them in our way to reach wanted complexity. We think we make it complex … but turn it instead into a simple and inferior product.
We loose ourselves if we don’t take charge of our own bodies – we are being given so much garbage in the name of good and healthy food.
Many people say no to passive smoking. We say no to passive poisoning!
We prefer carrots to antihydropropypherol and a good fat steak to E961.
