Galen
was born 129 AD in Pergamun, Greece. During his 71 year life he achieved
amazing results in the understanding of the human body. His curiosity took
him a long way – this was in a time where there were no educational
institutions, no labs where scientists tested chemical stuff on animals – if
you wanted to become a doctor you simply tried and tried doing your best and
driven by a sincere interest besides a deep respect for life. Galen became
the personal physician to the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius – no higher
position could be achieved. Driven by the awe of the human body, truly
wanting to care for it in the best possible way his passion flamed with full
strength and he tried all his life to find new and better ways to assist
nature in taking care of the body. One of the things he experimented with
was how to keep the skin smooth and beautiful as it was given to us. He
found a way to mix wax, oil and water – it was a tremendous result. He
called it Cold Crème and for the next 1700 years his recipe was followed by
the pharmacists. Unlike most crèmes today it is simple, simple in it
ingredients: Bees wax, almond oil, rose water. We have followed his recipe
in making this hand crème – not "as much as possible" but totally! The bees
wax comes untreated from the bee hive, we just clean it. The almond oil is
cold pressed and what our modern system calls "food grade". The rose water
is real [isn’t it a shame that this has to be emphasized?] – just
water and pure rose oil. The 3 ingredients are mixed to a crème – simple –
but heaps of muscle power! We do it by hand – not just to be true to Galens
recipe – but to get the "touch" of the crème while stirring it. What comes
out of this effort is a beautiful all round crème, - you won’t find
better. As Galen was our inspiration the words Simple – Honest – True have become our foundation, the core of the seventh body care range
We are proud of every jar leaving our
company. Every product has been hand made and we are not compromising on the
ingredients. As we only use natural - in its true and original sense -
ingredients there are products we cannot make, and so be it! We want to keep
on being proud of what we are doing and humble because we see every day the
magnificence of what is supplied by nature. We know that we could never come
up with anything as complex and complete. This is like the finest wine
making - it can’t be done without the grapes! There is a French expression "joie de vivre" - meaning the true enjoying of life. That is what it is all about to us - the jars and bottles are full of it for you to enjoy! about the packaging We use mainly glass to hold our products. We believe that the crèmes, scrubs and salves are happier in glass containers, and we hope that you can either make use of the empty jars in your household afterwards, or if not will give them to recycling. about linseed oil
When we declare "linseed oil" as an ingredient in our
products it is what is usually called flax seed oil. about lanolin
Lanolin is fat derived from sheep's wool. It is the
fat that comes closest to the human fat in its structure - and hence is the
most suitable for replenishing our skin. Only a few people are allergic to
